The monarch butterfly (scientific name: Danaus chrysippus) is an insect of the family Danauidae. The ground color of the wing surface is orange-yellow, the front edge, end and outer edge of the forewing are dark brown, and the sub-end is rowed with 4 white spots; the outer edge of the hind wing has a dark brown band. The reverse side of the wing is similar to the front side, but the forewing apex is yellowish brown, and the male butterfly has a black spot with a white spot in the middle.

The male and female adults of the monarch butterfly start a small amount of flight activity before 7:00, the daily flight peak of male adults is at 13:00-15:00, and the daily flight peaks of female adults are 9:00-11:00 and 15:00: 00-17:00. The monarch butterfly began to feed at about 7:00, and then the feeding frequency gradually increased. Morphological characteristics

Adult: The ground color of the wing surface is orange-yellow, the front edge, end and outer edge of the forewing are dark brown, there are 4 white spots in the sub-end, there are several small white spots nearby, and there is a continuous row of small white spots on the top corner and outer edge; hind wings There is a black-brown band on the outer edge, with one row of white spots, three black-brown spots at the end of the middle chamber, and one black spot on the inner side of the Cu2 vein base of the male butterfly. The reverse side of the wing is similar to the front side, but the forewing apex is yellowish brown, and the male butterfly has a black spot with a white spot in the middle.

Egg: Oval oval, slightly pointed at the top, yellowish-white, with inconspicuous longitudinal ridges and indentations on the surface.

Larvae: The last instar larvae are white in color, with black rings and macula, with a pair of fleshy spines on the back of the midthorax, the 2nd abdominal segment and the 8th abdominal segment each, and the head is white with black rings

Pupa: The pupa is oblong, pale green, with several small golden spots in the cephalothorax, and a black horizontal band in the center of the back of the abdomen.
