Catopsilia pomona (scientific name: Catopsilia pomona) is a butterfly of the genus Catopsilia. The striped female butterfly is 20-22 mm long and has a wingspan of 55-58 mm; the male is 24-26 mm long and has a wingspan of 66-72 mm. There is one eye spot at the end of the middle chamber on the reverse side of the forewing, and there are two eye spots at the end of the middle chamber on the reverse side of the hind wing. The non-striped wing has no eye spots on the reverse side; the antennae are black; the female and male bodies are smaller than those of the striped type. Both types of adults have black thorax covered with grayish-yellow hairs. The uncinate process of male external genitalia is longer; the claw-shaped process is long and the end is blunt. There are 2 narrow bony fragments at the base of the female genital sac duct; the length of the sac duct is comparable to that of the mating sac.

The peak period of larvae occurred in mid-to-late May, the population density decreased after late June, and gradually increased from mid-March of the following year. Overwinter as pupae. Morphological characteristics

Last instar larvae are 41-55 mm long. yellow-green. There are 5 transverse wrinkles on each segment of the abdomen; each wrinkle has a black verrucous bulge, which is particularly large near the upper line of the spiracle, and forms a black band in appearance, and some worms have an inconspicuous black band. The valve line is yellow and white, and the upper abdominal line is the same color, but the color is lighter. The body of the worm is slender and cylindrical, with a slightly thinner front and rear.

pupa

25-32 mm long. The ends are tapered, the middle is enlarged, the forehead is mostly green, and there are gray-black, gray-white and other colors. The dorsal midline is pale yellow in the raised part of the chest, and the rest is grass green or brown. There is a light yellow or gray-black ridge on each side from head to tail. There are a bunch of hooked spines at the end of the abdomen, so that the pupa is fixed on the silk pad and will not fall.

The larvae are 5 instars, the first released larvae eat the eggshell, before the 3rd instar they feed on sensitive leaves and young shoots, and after the 4th instar, they feed on the whole leaves, and the 5th instar is the overeating period. Male butterflies can mate within 3 hours after eclosion; female butterflies can mate after crawling out of the pupal shell. 7-8 o'clock and 11-14 o'clock are the two peak mating periods of the day. The shorter mating time was 2 hours and the longer was 8 hours. Adults tend to lay eggs on young leaves. 9-11 is the peak spawning period. Eggs are scattered. 600-800 eggs per female. The female to male ratio is 1:1.2. Larvae hatch at 21-24 o'clock as the peak period. After the larvae peel off, they can eat all the old sloughs. Before perching, spin silk on the leaves to make a layer of "rest pads", and fix the hind gastropods on the "rest pads" to rest. The older larvae will bounce to the ground when they are frightened. Old larvae pupate in the middle and lower parts of the tree canopy or on the back of the leaves of other plants.
