Eurema brigitta (Stoll), also known as the phantom pink butterfly, is an animal of the genus Paleidae.

Morphological characteristics

Wet season type: male butterfly. Wingspan 28-50mm. The antennae are slightly shorter than 1/2 of the length of the forewing, black and white, and the white spots on the ventral surface are almost connected to each other in a line. The thorax and abdomen are yellow, the bases of the thorax and abdomen are covered with black and yellow hairs, and there is a black longitudinal line along the lateral edge of the dorsal plate of the abdomen. The base color is yellow to light yellow. The black band on the leading edge of the forewing is broad, gradually widening towards the end, the inner edge of which is clear, but sometimes rather indistinct; Ventricular end spot absent; cilium black, but mixed with yellow. Hindwing outer band usually broad, narrow at both ends, margin usually clear, more or less serrated; cilium yellow, sometimes mixed with black. The bases of the wings usually have dense black haze spots. The base color of the reverse side is almost the same as that of the front side, and the wings sometimes have black fog spots, especially the hind wings. Forewings sometimes have weak subterminal stripes; mid-chamber spots are absent; mid-chamber ends are striped, usually divided into upper and lower spots; buttocks are absent; sex marks are absent; cilium is yellow, mixed with black. Hindwing has a row of submarginal spots, in which the submarginal spots of m1 and m2 chambers merge into one stripe; the terminal spots of the middle chamber are almost the same as the front, but longer and more obvious; the vein points are usually obvious. Female butterfly. Similar to male butterfly, but with the following differences: lighter ground color; narrower black band on front edge of forewing, with more indistinct border; end band slightly wider, with more indistinct inner edge, sometimes partially or completely disappeared at cu2 ; The black end band of hind wings is wider, and its inner edge is more indistinct. The bases of the wings have denser black haze spots. The reverse side has more black fog dots.

Dry season: Forewings are sometimes more pointed at the apex and straighter at the outer edge. Hind wings are slightly angled in the m3 chamber. The wings have a reddish-brown tint. The black leading and end bands of the forewings are narrower than those of the wet-season type, sometimes narrowing to the venation at the rump angle of the hindwings. The cilium is usually orange-red. Females have fewer black fog spots on their wings. Most markings on the reverse are more developed.

Male external genitalia: slightly broad dorsal pocket, trapezoidal in dorsal view, not concave in the back, with a wide membranous area in the front middle, the lateral margin of the membranous area is irregularly inscribed; the claw-shaped process is short; the cystic process is quite long; The length and width of the clavicular petals are almost the same, the one in the middle of the dorsal margin is the longest, and the other 4 are short: 1 at the dorsal margin of the end, 2 at the middle of the end margin, and 1 at the end of the ventral margin; slender penis Long, with micro-spikes at the end; the base ring of the penis is weakly ossified, broadly leaf-shaped, with a short stalk at the base and deep centrally at the end.

Female external genitalia: long egg-laying valve; anterior epidermal process almost straight, close to the length of posterior epidermal process, with an obvious verrucous process on the dorsal margin of its base; the opening of the mating hole is at the front end of the genital lamella; the sac duct is almost as long as the sac neck , membranous, but the anterior 2/5 are weakly ossified; the capsular process is moderately large, the middle of its ventral edge (back edge) protrudes, and there are many small odontoid processes on it.
