Morphological characteristics

Adult: Wingspan 40-45 mm. Tentacles black. The back is black, the head is broad, and the belly is short. The belly of the body is pale. The wings are black; there is a grayish-white band in the inner area of the forewing, the ends are semi-transparent, and the veins are very clear. The hind wings are long and narrow, and the caudal process is very long, which is unique among swallowtails. There is a gray-white band from the middle of the front edge to the caudal process, but it ends before the caudal process. Confluent; outer edge wavy, white bordered to end of caudal process. The male butterfly has long white hairs in the rump folds of its hind wings. The bases of the front and hind wings are grayish white, and the rest are similar to the front.

Male external genitalia claw-shaped process disappears, jaw-shaped process is small, leaf-shaped; clavicular lobe is long, slightly narrow at the end and protruding at the end; the inner process is wide, the proximal ventral side is deeply recessed and then protrudes to form a large hook. The end of the penis is trifurcated; the penis is short and broad, the base is narrow, and the end is bifurcated.

Larvae: The head width of the last instar larvae (5th instar) is about 2.82 mm. The head is light green and shiny, with 4 large dark brown spots along the trailing edge, and dark brown around the monocular group. The stinky horn is yellow and transparent. The pronotum is green, the anterior part is yellow, and there is a pair of obtuse-shaped protrusions on both sides, but it is not very conspicuous. Body color is dark green, with yellow accents on the lower side. There are small black dots above the valve line. The upper anal plate is yellow-green, with a pair of obtuse-shaped protrusions on the left and right. The thoracic, abdominal and buttocks are pale green.

Pupa: The pupa of Graphium Sarpedon. The protrusions on the head are small and extend to the left and right. The central protrusion on the back of the mid-thorax is long and stretches to the upper front of the body. The front end of the protrusion has a well-developed yellow ridge, the front one extends to the top of the head, and the rear one ends at the rear edge of the midthorax. On both sides of the dorsal line, there are 2 well-developed yellow ridges from the anterior edge of the first abdominal segment to the end of the abdomen. Body color is bright green with regular dark green markings above the valve line. Has brown pupa. Body length is about 27 mm.
