There are 6 slightly crescent-shaped erythema on the outer edge of the hind wing, and the erythema at the rump corner is round; There is also a blue-green line in the caudal process. The color of the underside of the wing is lighter, the erythema on the outer edge of the hind wing is particularly clear and obvious, and the blue-green horizontal band disappears. The newly hatched larvae are small, 3-4mm long, dark brown, and guano-like. 2 and 3 instar larvae are green, 11-28mm long, with yellow spots and stripes. The 4th instar to mature larvae are thicker in shape, 41-70mm long, cylindrical, green, and have a smooth body surface. The front chest has eye-shaped spots, and there is a smelly horn in the middle of the front edge. When encountering an enemy, it is turned out of the body, and the odor overflows to retreat from the enemy, which is a warning color. The larvae's epidermis contains chitin, but it is softer, and it peels 4-5 times to pupate. When the room temperature is 25°C, the larval stage is 20-25 days

The surface of the pupa is rough, yellow-green to dark green. When viewed from the front, the head is separated into a fork shape, and the middle part of the abdomen gradually widens into a spindle shape. The larval secretions form filaments, which attach the end of the worm to the host plant, stone or other plant body. There is a filament around the waist that is wrapped around the object, which is called "hanging chrysalis". When the room temperature is 25 ℃, the pupal stage is 7-15 days, and the overwintering pupae mostly overwinter in the host plants or stone crevices.

The larvae of the green-belted swallowtail butterfly mainly feed on Phellodendron amurense Rupr., a plant of the Rutaceae family in the north. Green-belted Papilio has two generations per year in Heilongjiang, and can reach 4-5 generations in captivity. Spring-type adults appear in 4-5 copies, adults appear in July-August, and overwinter as pupae. During the occurrence period, there are many adult worms, most of them are males, and they fly quickly and are difficult to catch.

Adults often fly along mountain roads, males inhabit in groups of streams or wetlands on mountain roads to drink water, while females like to suck a variety of nectar. The captured adults have many broken wings, and the ornamental and collection value is greatly inferior. The adult worms obtained by artificial breeding have a more complete appearance, and the ornamental and commercial value of the specimens are greatly improved.
